Game Aerospace has announced the successful first flight of its GB2, described by the company as the first purpose-built firefighting aircraft developed in the United States. The milestone flight took place at Louise Thaden Field in Bentonville, where the prototype completed its planned initial evaluations.
The GB2 has an empty weight of 6,050 pounds and a maximum gross weight of 19,000 pounds. It can carry up to 1,200 gallons of firefighting payload along with 400 gallons of fuel, while its two-seat cockpit is designed to support both training and operational missions.
Game Aerospace said the aircraft was developed specifically around aerial firefighting requirements, with the company aiming to provide a cost-effective solution for wildfire response operations. The successful flight marks an important step toward further testing and development of the GB2.
