A retired U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcat has arrived at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum in Colorado following an unusual 2,700-mile journey from Pensacola, Florida.

The aircraft had been stored outdoors at the National Naval Aviation Museum before the Navy awarded it to the Pueblo museum on permanent loan. Transporting the iconic fighter across the country proved challenging because its fuselage is around 22 feet wide.

The oversized aircraft required a specially approved route through 12 states, more than doubling the normal road distance between Pensacola and Pueblo. The journey took around two weeks and attracted crowds, with hundreds of aviation enthusiasts gathering at several stops to see the Tomcat.

The F-14 has now been reassembled at the museum and will initially go on display. A detailed restoration is planned before the aircraft returns to public exhibition.
