Ahmedabad – Passengers onboard an IndiGo flight from Ahmedabad to Diu experienced tense moments on Wednesday morning after the aircraft aborted take-off due to a technical issue. The incident occurred at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport shortly before the scheduled departure of flight 6E-7214.
According to airport sources, the aircraft was preparing for take-off when the pilots detected a technical abnormality during the final pre-departure checks. Following standard safety protocols, the take-off was aborted immediately, and the aircraft was returned to the bay for inspection.
“Safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority,” IndiGo said in a statement. “Our operating crew decided to abort the take-off as a precautionary measure due to a technical indication in the cockpit. All passengers were safely deplaned, and alternate arrangements are being made to accommodate them on another flight.”
Airport operations remained unaffected, though ground staff and emergency services were briefly deployed as a precautionary measure.
The affected aircraft is currently undergoing detailed engineering inspection by IndiGo’s maintenance team. No injuries were reported, and all passengers were provided refreshments at the terminal while they waited for further updates.
This is the second technical snag reported by a domestic carrier at Ahmedabad in the past three months, though aviation experts emphasize that such measures are part of routine safety procedures and not indicative of broader systemic issues.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials have been informed, and the incident will be reviewed to determine the exact nature of the fault.
The Ahmedabad-Diu route is a popular connection, especially among tourists heading to the coastal Union Territory. IndiGo is the only airline currently operating direct flights on this sector.
