Air Canada has officially operated its first revenue flight with the Airbus A321XLR, marking a major milestone for the airline’s fleet modernization program. The aircraft entered commercial service on Tuesday with a short domestic flight between Montréal and Toronto.
The inaugural revenue service provided Air Canada with an opportunity to introduce the new aircraft to passengers before deploying it on longer international routes. The Airbus A321XLR is designed for extended-range operations, allowing airlines to connect destinations that may not require larger widebody aircraft.
Air Canada is expected to use the A321XLR to expand its network and improve efficiency on long-haul routes. The aircraft offers lower fuel consumption, increased range, and enhanced passenger comfort compared to previous-generation narrowbody jets.
The delivery and entry into service of the A321XLR represent an important step in Air Canada’s growth strategy as the carrier continues investing in modern, fuel-efficient aircraft to support future route expansion.
