A recent incident aboard an Air India flight from Chicago to Delhi has sparked criticism of the airline’s service and handling of passenger complaints. The controversy began when a passenger, who was seated in business class, was allegedly moved to economy class under false pretenses.

The traveler shared her experience with aviation blog View from the Wing, detailing how she was informed at the boarding gate that her business class seat was non-functional due to a malfunctioning recliner. As a result, she was offered two economy seats as alternatives, which she declined. However, upon boarding, the passenger discovered that the only issue with her seat was a broken tray table, contradicting the airline’s initial explanation about the recliner.

The situation took a further turn when the passenger later observed that the business class seats, which were supposedly unavailable to her, were occupied by Air India crew members who appeared to be using them to sleep. This led to accusations of mistreatment and poor service, as the traveler felt her downgrade was unwarranted.

The incident has reignited ongoing criticisms of Air India’s service quality, especially regarding passenger treatment and the management of business class accommodations. The airline has yet to comment publicly on the specific details of the situation, but this episode has further fueled dissatisfaction with its flight operations.
