During a recent site visit to the ongoing construction, Hak emphasized the airport’s vital role in improving travel convenience for air passengers, especially international tourists.
The minister highlighted that the new airport will be instrumental in helping Cambodia achieve its ambitious target of welcoming 7.5 million international tourists by 2025. With increased air connectivity to both regional and global destinations, TIA is expected to open new avenues for tourism and economic growth. Hak stressed that the improved infrastructure will not only facilitate smoother travel but also strengthen Cambodia’s position as a competitive player in the global tourism market.
Leading a delegation of tourism agents and industry associations, Hak toured the under-construction airport to assess its progress and discuss the anticipated impact on the tourism sector. He underlined that the new airport will enhance Cambodia’s prestige and reputation, positioning the Kingdom as a more attractive destination for both leisure and business travelers.
The Techo International Airport, located approximately 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh, is designed to accommodate the increasing influx of passengers and is part of the government’s broader strategy to modernize the nation’s aviation infrastructure.
