This new cabin product is most commonly seen on a number of Boeing 777 aircraft, which were previously flown by Cathay Pacific and Virgin Australia before being leased by Qatar Airways. This move is part of the airline’s strategy to manage ongoing delays in receiving new jets from Airbus and Boeing, allowing passengers to enjoy enhanced comfort while the airline awaits its new aircraft.
When booking Comfort+ on flights operated by former Cathay Pacific Boeing 777s, passengers will find themselves in a cabin that was once Cathay’s premium economy section. The seats in Comfort+ are noticeably wider than standard economy seats, measuring 19.5 inches compared to the usual 18.5 inches. They also feature a deeper 8-inch recline, providing passengers with a more relaxing experience. In addition, the larger 10.6-inch video screen and a decent legrest further enhance the in-flight comfort.
Despite Qatar Airways’ commitment to offering luxurious new business and first-class suites in the future, the airline has been steadfast in not launching a traditional premium economy class—unlike some of its Gulf competitors, such as Emirates and Riyadh Air, who are offering or planning to offer premium economy.
