India’s IndiGo is preparing to end its damp-lease arrangement with Norse Atlantic Airways for six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on October 31, 2026, marking a significant shift in its long-haul expansion strategy.

The airline plans to deploy Airbus A321XLR aircraft on selected medium- and long-distance routes, while larger Airbus A350 aircraft are expected to support its future long-haul operations.

IndiGo’s Mumbai–Amsterdam service is scheduled to transition to the A321XLR from October 25, 2026. Meanwhile, flights to London Heathrow will remain suspended until the airline receives its A350 aircraft.

The carrier aims to increase international capacity from 30% to 40% by fiscal year 2030, supported by new route launches and 13 codeshare partnerships.

This transition highlights IndiGo’s strategy of combining long-range narrowbody aircraft with widebody jets to expand its international network and strengthen its global presence.
