The upcoming John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 1 is being planned as one of the most advanced airport terminals in the United States, with officials promising a next-generation passenger experience. However, the ambitious project comes with a massive estimated cost of $9.5 billion.
The new terminal is expected to feature 23 aircraft gates across approximately 2.6 million square feet of space. Once fully completed, the facility will be capable of handling up to 23 million passengers annually, significantly expanding JFK’s international capacity.
The project is part of the wider modernization of JFK Airport, aimed at replacing older facilities with modern terminals featuring improved passenger facilities, upgraded technology, and enhanced travel experiences.
While the scale of the development has attracted attention, the high construction cost has also raised questions about the financial challenges involved in delivering one of the largest airport infrastructure projects in the region.
