Lufthansa to Launch Phoenix–Munich Flights in August 2027.

Lufthansa is expanding its US network with a new nonstop route between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) in Arizona and Munich Airport (MUC) in Germany. The service is scheduled to launch on August 3, 2027, restoring direct passenger connectivity between Phoenix and Germany.

The airline will operate the route three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, using the Airbus A350-900. The aircraft will feature 293 seats across three cabins, including 48 Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy seats and 224 Economy seats.

According to the announced schedule, flights will depart Munich at 1:20 p.m. and arrive in Phoenix at 4:00 p.m. local time. Return services will leave Phoenix at 5:50 p.m., reaching Munich at 1:25 p.m. the following day.

The new connection will give Arizona travellers direct access to Munich and onward connections across Lufthansa’s international network, including destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. It will also eliminate the need for passengers travelling between Phoenix and Munich to connect through another airport.

The launch follows the discontinuation of Condor Airlines’ nonstop Phoenix–Frankfurt service in December 2024. Lufthansa’s new route will restore direct passenger flights between Phoenix and Germany, this time through its Munich hub.

Airport officials estimate that the service could generate approximately $81.2 million in annual economic activity for the Phoenix region. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego also welcomed the announcement, highlighting its potential benefits for tourism, local businesses and international investment.

Initial advertised one-way fares reportedly range from around $631 to $710, depending on travel dates and availability. Lufthansa’s Economy Light fares include limited baggage allowances, while checked baggage and advance seat selection may incur additional charges.
