Florida’s Pensacola International Airport hosted a special “Wings for All” program to prepare neurodivergent passengers for their first air journey. The initiative offered a calm, pressure-free environment where participants could experience airport procedures in advance.
Held on February 24, the event allowed future travelers to rehearse every step of the journey, from collecting boarding passes to completing Transportation Security Administration screening, locating departure gates and boarding an aircraft. The hands-on practice helped build confidence and reduce travel anxiety.
The program was conducted in collaboration with Delta Air Lines and The Arc Gateway, an organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through training and community services.
Families also benefited from the experience, gaining better understanding of airport processes and future travel planning. The initiative is being seen as a meaningful step toward more inclusive and accessible air travel.
