The launch of commercial flights from Noida International Airport may be delayed until after April 30, as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to issue the airport’s aerodrome license by the end of April. The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the agency overseeing the airport’s development in Greater Noida’s Jewar, confirmed the setback on Thursday.

As a result of this delay, the timeline for the commencement of commercial flight operations will be reviewed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 10. The new date for the airport’s maiden flight is expected to be finalized following this review.

The airport, which has been under construction for several years, is a crucial infrastructure project for the region, aimed at easing congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and providing much-needed connectivity to the rapidly growing areas of Greater Noida and beyond.

Despite the setback in the aerodrome license issuance, NIAL remains hopeful that the airport will soon be operational, with airlines such as IndiGo and Air India expected to offer services from the new facility.
