The Federal Aviation Administration has officially confirmed that Palm Beach International Airport in Florida will be renamed on July 9, 2026, following approval from local and state authorities earlier this year. The decision was finalized through a rule published in the Federal Register this week.
Officials also expect the airport’s three-letter identifier to change from PBI to DJT in the near future. However, that process is being handled separately in coordination with the International Air Transport Association and was not included in the FAA’s latest rulemaking update.
According to the FAA, airport naming decisions are controlled by local authorities rather than the federal agency itself. The FAA’s role was limited to updating Class C and Class E airspace descriptions and modifying records within the National Airspace System Resources database to reflect the upcoming name change.
Despite the rebranding, airport operations will remain unchanged. Runways, terminals, and flight services at Palm Beach International Airport will continue operating normally. The airport remains a major gateway for West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County, serving nearly 8 million passengers annually with airlines including American, Delta, United, JetBlue, and Southwest.
