Tupolev, part of United Aircraft Corporation, has presented a new long-range aircraft concept, the Tu-454, at the Russian Venture Forum, signaling fresh ambitions in the widebody segment.
The early-stage proposal outlines a domestically developed passenger jet aimed at strengthening Russia’s long-haul aviation capabilities. The concept was showcased before senior government officials and industry leaders, highlighting its strategic importance.
If developed, the Tu-454 is expected to compete with established widebody aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, as Russia looks to reduce reliance on foreign manufacturers and boost its aerospace industry.
While still in the conceptual phase, the project reflects a broader push to revive domestic aircraft development and position Russia as a competitive player in the global aviation market.
