The Sukhoi S-86 was an ambitious multi-role transport aircraft concept studied by Russia’s Sukhoi Design Bureau around 1993. Featuring an unusual forward-swept wing design, the aircraft was planned with a rear-mounted pusher configuration powered by two contra-rotating turboprop engines.

Primarily intended for executive transport, the S-86 was designed to accommodate six to eight passengers in a pressurised cabin. Its proposed interior featured club-style seating arranged around a table, offering a comfortable environment for business travel.

Sukhoi also considered several specialised variants, including cargo transport, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), and maritime or land patrol missions. These configurations would have expanded the aircraft’s potential roles beyond executive transportation.

However, the S-86 never progressed beyond the conceptual design stage, and no prototype was built. Despite remaining an unrealised project, its forward-swept wings and distinctive propulsion arrangement make it an intriguing example of experimental aircraft design.
