A holiday flight carrying British passengers from Tenerife to Birmingham made an emergency landing in Portugal after one of the pilots reportedly suffered a suspected heart attack while the aircraft was cruising at 30,000 feet.

Passengers onboard described tense scenes inside the cabin as cabin crew rushed through the aisle asking if any travelers had medical training to assist with the cockpit emergency. Witnesses said some flight attendants appeared visibly distressed during the incident.

The aircraft was safely diverted to Portugal, where emergency medical teams were waiting upon arrival. The condition of the pilot has not yet been officially confirmed, while passengers were later assisted with onward travel arrangements.

The incident highlights the importance of strict aviation safety procedures and crew coordination during in-flight medical emergencies. Aviation experts note that commercial aircraft are trained to handle such situations safely, including immediate diversions when necessary.
