A training aircraft operated by RedBird Aviation made a crash landing near Gojubavi village in Maharashtra’s Baramati region on Wednesday morning after reportedly developing a technical fault during a training sortie. The incident occurred around 8:50 AM near Baramati airport in Pune district.
According to Pune Rural Police, the aircraft was being flown by a trainee pilot when it encountered a technical snag while operating at low altitude. During the emergency landing attempt, a part of the aircraft reportedly struck a light pole before crashing onto the ground near the village area.
Police officials confirmed that only the trainee pilot was onboard the aircraft at the time of the incident. Fortunately, the pilot escaped without any serious injuries. Authorities immediately rushed to the scene after receiving information about the crash landing and secured the area for investigation.
Pune Rural Police SP Sandeep Singh Gill stated that preliminary information from eyewitnesses indicates a technical malfunction may have caused the emergency situation. Officials have launched an inquiry into the incident, while further investigation and technical assessment of the aircraft are currently underway.
