Air India Express flight IX415, operating from Cochin to Abu Dhabi, turned back to Kochi after the crew detected a rapid drop in oil quantity in Engine 1. The Boeing 737 was around 50 minutes into the journey and flying at 36,000 feet when the issue was noticed.

As the oil level continued to fall, the crew assessed the situation and decided to abandon the Abu Dhabi sector and return to Cochin. The aircraft’s Engine 1 oil pressure later entered the danger zone, prompting the pilots to shut down the affected engine as a safety precaution.

The aircraft subsequently landed safely at Cochin International Airport. The number of passengers and crew onboard was not immediately known. The incident highlights the crew’s prompt response to a developing engine-related technical issue.
