An Air India flight bound for San Francisco was forced to return to Delhi on Wednesday morning after remaining airborne for more than eight hours due to a technical issue, according to sources.
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, carrying around 230 passengers, safely landed back in the national capital after the crew reportedly detected a technical problem during the long-haul journey. Air India confirmed that the aircraft returned as a precautionary measure in line with safety procedures.
In an official statement, the airline said the aircraft landed safely and will now undergo a detailed technical inspection according to Air India’s safety standards before returning to service.
Passengers were safely deboarded after landing, while the airline is expected to make alternate arrangements for affected travelers. The exact nature of the technical issue has not yet been disclosed.
