Air India has unveiled a comprehensive overhaul of its Maharaja Club loyalty programme, with changes being implemented in phases starting April 1, 2026. The move is part of the airline’s broader strategy to enhance customer experience and reward frequent flyers more effectively.

One of the biggest highlights of the update is the significant reduction in Maharaja Points required for award flights and cabin upgrades—by as much as 64% in some cases. This makes redeeming rewards far more accessible, especially for regular travellers. Additionally, the airline has streamlined its tier progression system, enabling members to reach higher status levels faster and enjoy premium benefits sooner.

The revamped programme also introduces improved booking flexibility, allowing members to make changes or cancellations with greater ease. Alongside this, Air India has expanded privileges to include companions, ensuring that travellers can share benefits such as upgrades and priority services with their travel partners.

According to the airline, these changes are based on extensive feedback from members and are designed to deliver greater overall value. Passengers flying from major hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad are expected to benefit the most, as Air India continues strengthening its presence across domestic and international networks.

With this overhaul, Air India aims to position its Maharaja Club as a more competitive and customer-friendly loyalty programme in the global aviation market.
