Boeing 777-9 Gets Major Range Boost.

Boeing’s next-generation 777-9 is now advertised with a range of up to 8,000 nautical miles, up from the previously listed figure and giving the aircraft a significant advantage over the 777-300ER’s roughly 7,500-nautical-mile range.

The additional range comes despite the 777-9 being longer and designed to carry more passengers. Its large composite wings, advanced aerodynamics and GE9X engines are key to improving efficiency and extending its long-haul capability. The aircraft also features folding wingtips, allowing it to use airport gates designed for existing 777s.

Boeing updated the 777-9’s advertised range during 2026 while the aircraft remained in certification testing. After years of delays, the first commercial deliveries are currently expected in 2027, with Lufthansa among the launch customers.
