A China Eastern Airlines passenger has been banned from flying with the airline after allegedly threatening and humiliating a flight attendant following an incident involving a service cart.
The incident occurred on flight MU6741 from Hefei to Dalian, when a food cart reportedly bumped the passenger’s elbow while he was sleeping. The flight attendant apologized and checked on him, but the passenger allegedly became increasingly angry and demanded an apology.
According to reports, the passenger eventually told the flight attendant to let him kick her. The crew member became distressed and reportedly knelt down during the confrontation. A security officer later intervened and helped calm the situation.
After landing, medical staff examined the passenger and found no visible injuries or swelling requiring treatment. China Eastern said he declined further medical assistance and left the airport.
Following its investigation, the airline determined that the passenger’s behavior constituted a disturbance of order aboard a civil aircraft and seriously violated the personal dignity and professional rights of its employee.
China Eastern has reported the incident to public security authorities and is cooperating with the investigation. The airline has also suspended transportation services for the passenger, effectively banning him from future flights with China Eastern.
The airline said it is providing the affected flight attendant with psychological counseling and legal assistance, while thanking passengers who helped maintain order and provided evidence.
China Eastern emphasized that while passengers deserve good service, that does not justify threats, intimidation or humiliation of airline employees.
