China Southern Airlines has launched its first cargo route to Norway, connecting Oslo and Shanghai via Amsterdam twice a week. The new service began operations on August 19 and is operated by Boeing 777F freighters.
Each flight can carry around 100 tonnes of cargo, with Norwegian salmon expected to make up a major share of shipments. The service is set to add around 200 tonnes of weekly capacity for Norwegian seafood exports to China.
The new connection strengthens air-freight links between Norway and China and provides additional capacity for transporting fresh, time-sensitive seafood. China has become an increasingly important market for Norwegian salmon, making the new cargo service significant for the country’s seafood industry.
