Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has climbed 11 places to No. 28 in OAG’s 2026 ranking of the world’s most-connected international airports, rising from 39th position last year. It is the only Indian airport in the global Top 50 and ranks ninth in the Asia-Pacific region.

Delhi recorded 2,174 possible international connections during OAG’s ranking period. OAG’s Megahubs Index is based on scheduled flight connections within a six-hour window and uses data covering September 2025 to August 2026.

The airport also ranked ninth among the world’s low-cost carrier megahubs, with IndiGo identified as its dominant carrier. OAG lists IndiGo as operating 40% of flights at Delhi, while accounting for 57% of the airport’s low-cost-carrier capacity.

The ranking highlights Delhi’s growing role as a major international gateway and connecting hub for passengers travelling between India, Asia, Europe and other global markets.
