A video filmed aboard a Frontier Airlines flight has sparked online debate after actress Erica Mena claimed she saw a flight attendant filling empty water bottles directly from the aircraft’s potable water system before handing them to passengers.
Mena shared the footage on X after traveling on Frontier flight F9 2342, questioning whether passengers were being given aircraft water as bottled water. The video quickly attracted attention, with viewers raising concerns about the safety and source of the water.
Frontier Airlines responded that it was looking into the incident and thanked Mena for bringing it to the airline’s attention.
Aircraft potable water is regulated in the U.S. under the EPA’s Aircraft Drinking Water Rule, which covers procedures for maintaining, disinfecting and monitoring onboard water systems. However, aircraft potable water is different from commercially bottled water, which is processed and sealed specifically for consumption.
The footage alone does not establish that the water was unsafe or exactly how the bottles were being used. Frontier’s investigation is expected to clarify what occurred.
