Airlines worldwide are stepping up competition in 2026 by introducing next-generation business class cabins designed to transform long-haul travel. From North America to Europe and the Middle East, carriers are investing heavily in premium products, upgrading seats, and retrofitting aircraft to deliver enhanced comfort, privacy, and passenger experience.

A major highlight comes from United Airlines, which recently unveiled its upgraded Polaris business class under the “Elevated” program. The new cabins feature advanced suite-style seating, including the exclusive Polaris Studio — a set of premium seats offering up to 25% more space, greater privacy, and additional features for high-end travelers.

These new cabins are debuting on the airline’s Boeing 787-9 fleet, operating key long-haul routes from San Francisco International Airport to Singapore Changi Airport and London Heathrow Airport. The aircraft are configured with a premium-heavy layout, offering 64 Polaris suites, alongside premium economy and economy seating.

While the new suites include sliding doors for added privacy, regulatory approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration are still pending. As a result, the doors currently remain locked open during flights. Despite this, the innovations signal a major shift in business class standards, setting new benchmarks for comfort and luxury in long-haul aviation.
