Operations at Pune International Airport were temporarily suspended late on Friday night after an Indian Air Force fighter aircraft experienced a hard landing due to an undercarriage failure.

The incident occurred around 10:25 pm on April 17, 2026, when the aircraft—believed to be a Sukhoi Su-30MKI—developed a technical snag during landing. The failure of its landing gear caused the jet to halt on the runway, blocking the airport’s single strip and leading to the suspension of both civilian and military flight operations.

Officials reported a minor fire following the landing, which was quickly brought under control by emergency response teams. Both pilots onboard the aircraft were safe, and no damage to civilian property was reported during the incident.

The runway was later cleared, and operations were fully restored on Saturday. Authorities confirmed that the situation was handled promptly, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining safety at the airport.
