A S7 Airlines Boeing 737-800 was involved in a runway excursion incident at Mirny Airport in Russia’s Yakutia region, leading to the temporary closure of the airport.
According to the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office, the aircraft was operating a flight from Novosibirsk to Mirny on June 30 when it veered off the runway after landing.
There were 173 passengers and six crew members onboard at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.
Authorities have begun investigating the cause of the runway excursion, examining possible operational, weather, and aircraft-related factors.
The airport temporarily suspended operations following the incident while officials assessed the situation and carried out necessary procedures.
