A tragic discovery was made at London Gatwick Airport after the body of a suspected stowaway was found in the landing gear compartment of an Airbus A320 operated by Air Arabia Maroc. The aircraft had arrived from Tangier on June 16, 2026.

The discovery was reportedly made by a cargo handling team while unloading the aircraft shortly before noon. Emergency services and airport authorities responded immediately, and the airline notified local law enforcement agencies.

Investigators believe the man may have concealed himself inside the aircraft’s undercarriage before departure from Tangier. Stowaways who attempt to travel in landing gear compartments face extreme risks, including freezing temperatures, low oxygen levels, and exposure to aircraft mechanisms during flight.

Sussex Police confirmed that an investigation is underway. A report will be submitted to His Majesty’s Coroner to help establish the individual’s identity and determine the official cause of death. Air Arabia Maroc expressed its condolences to all those affected by the incident.
