Firefighters from Luxembourg Airport Fire Brigade evacuated 12 people after a historic Antonov An-2 suffered significant damage during a landing attempt at **Luxembourg Airport (LUX).

Emergency crews quickly responded to the incident and safely removed everyone onboard. No further details about injuries or the exact cause of the landing problem have been released.

The aircraft involved was a 1968-built Antonov An-2, one of the most recognizable aircraft designs in aviation history. Powered by a 750 kW (1,010 hp) nine-cylinder Shvetsov ASh-62 radial engine, the An-2 is known as the world’s largest biplane.

With an empty weight of around 3,300 kilograms, the An-2 was produced until 2001 and remains in operation with both military and civilian operators around the world due to its rugged design and short takeoff and landing capabilities.

Authorities are expected to inspect the aircraft and investigate the circumstances behind the landing incident.
