A longtime Horizon Air pilot, Captain Phil, has officially completed his final retirement flight after serving the airline for 35 years. The farewell journey operated between Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, recreating the exact route he first flew at the beginning of his aviation career decades ago.
The emotional retirement flight became even more special when the same flight attendant who worked alongside Captain Phil on his very first day returned to join him onboard for his final service. Passengers and crew members celebrated the moment together, recognising his dedication and years of service in regional aviation.
Horizon Air, which operates regional flights across the Pacific Northwest for parent company Alaska Airlines, is known for honouring longtime employees with special gate celebrations and farewell flights as they complete their final duties before retirement.
The retirement event highlighted the strong bond shared between airline crews and passengers, with many travellers onboard applauding Captain Phil’s contribution to the airline industry and thanking him for decades of safe flying.
