SriLankan Airlines is conducting a specialised Airbus A330 Line Flying Under Supervision (LFUS) programme for six senior training and examination pilots from Etihad Airways, strengthening cooperation between the two airlines.

The programme includes five Type Rating Examiners and one Senior Type Rating Examiner from Etihad. Two pilots successfully completed their training on September 23, while the remaining four are scheduled to complete their programmes by September 27.

The training is being delivered by SriLankan Airlines’ Flight Training team alongside experienced instructors and flight crew. The programme required coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), Ministry of Defence and other authorities to meet operational, regulatory and security requirements.

The initiative highlights SriLankan Airlines’ ability to use its A330 fleet, training infrastructure and aviation expertise to support international airline personnel. It also creates opportunities for further cooperation between SriLankan Airlines and Etihad in pilot training and other areas of aviation.
