An Cathay Pacific flight travelling from Brisbane to Hong Kong experienced severe turbulence that injured 10 people onboard after the aircraft reportedly made a sudden mid-air plunge, causing panic inside the cabin.

Flight CX156, operated by an Airbus A350-900, encountered the turbulence around two hours before landing in Hong Kong on Saturday. Passengers described food carts and loose items being thrown around the cabin during the sudden drop, while one Australian passenger said he feared he was going to die during the incident.

Cathay Pacific confirmed that six cabin crew members and four passengers were injured. Medical teams boarded the aircraft immediately after it landed safely in Hong Kong at approximately 6:45am local time, and eight injured individuals were later transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The airline stated that it is fully cooperating with aviation authorities as investigations begin into the turbulence event. Officials are expected to review cockpit and flight data to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, while Cathay Pacific continues to provide support to affected passengers and crew members.
