Durgapur: AirDivit Udan Academy Pvt. Ltd., training partner of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya, has agreed to sign an MoU with Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL), operator of Durgapur Airport, BAPL is associated with the development of India’s first airport aerotropolis model at Durgapur and is backed by organisations including West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDC) and Changi Airports India Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Changi Airports International Pte Ltd. for a six-day intensive live airport training programme for aviation students.

The training will be conducted at Durgapur Airport, where students will get classroom learning as well as practical exposure to real airport operations. The programme will cover important areas such as Airport Operations, Air Traffic Control coordination, Ground Handling, Airport Security, Airport Engineering, Commercial Operations, Passenger Handling, Ramp Operations, Terminal Management, and overall airport workflow.

Mr. Sidhartha Bose, DGM – Airport Operations, explained that the programme has been planned to give students a complete 360-degree view of airport operations. He said that students will learn how different departments of an airport work together for safe and smooth flight operations. The training will help students understand aviation discipline, operational procedures, safety standards, coordination systems, and the professional environment of an airport.

Mr. Ananda Ganguly, Head – Ground Operations Training, AirDivit Udan Academy, said that live airport exposure is extremely important for students who want to build a career in aviation. According to him, this training will help students face interviews with more confidence, understand actual airport working conditions, and choose their preferred career field. He added that exposure to live aircraft operations, including A320-category aircraft movement, will give ADUA students a strong practical advantage.

Mr. Jagrat Kapoor, Director, AirDivit Udan Academy Pvt. Ltd., said that this training will be a compulsory practical component of ADUA’s job-oriented diploma programmes, including Diploma in Airport Operations & Terminal Management, Airport Hospitality & Customer Service, Air Cargo Operations & Management, Ramp Handling & Ground Support, and Aviation Security & Safety.

He also informed that no extra fee will be charged from students enrolled in these diploma courses for this airport training. Apart from diploma students, the programme may also be offered as an optional training facility for other graduation students of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya who are interested in aviation careers.

Mr. Kapoor further said that aviation education cannot remain limited to classrooms only. Students must see how airports actually function, how passengers are handled, how aircraft are coordinated on ground, how safety and security systems operate, and how different departments work together during live flight operations.

Mr. Jaidev Tamrakar, Chairman, AirDivit Udan Academy Pvt. Ltd., said that such initiatives will create better opportunities for the youth of the Vindhya region. He said that students from smaller cities and rural areas have talent, dedication, and dreams, but often lack access to industry exposure available to students from metro cities.

He added that AirDivit Udan Academy is committed to providing quality aviation training and helping students of Vindhya region stand equal to students from big cities. He also expressed hope that the Vindhya region will soon develop world-class airport infrastructure capable of handling larger aircraft and creating new employment opportunities in the aviation sector.

This MoU is expected to strengthen ADUA’s practical training model and make its aviation diploma programmes more industry-oriented, job-focused, and placement-ready. The six-day training at Durgapur Airport will help students gain real airport exposure, improve confidence, understand professional aviation culture, and prepare for careers in airports, airlines, ground handling, cargo, aviation security, and passenger services.
